Were the central system of AWS Infrastructure Services transforming complex network operations into streamlined automated solutions through SoftwareDefined Networking (SDN) and Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP). Your code will directly influence how AWSs global infrastructure scales and operates solving challenges that exist nowhere else in the industry.

What We Really Do:
Manage 300000 production devices that keep AWS running
Provide secure console access to millions of AWS servers and network devices worldwide
Own and operate the management network that enables automated device provisioning monitoring and telemetry collection across AWSs global infrastructure
Run our purposebuilt highprecision timing infrastructure that enables Time Sync services with nanosecond accuracy

Key job responsibilities
In this role you will be part of a twopizza team in an org of 100 engineers. As a software development engineer you will:
Help establish technical direction foster team culture grow junior engineers and deliver exciting features to internal and external customers.
Take end to end ownership of the software development life cycle. This includes design testing deployment and operating
Be very handson; work with the engineering team to manage the daytoday development activities by leading architecture decisions participating in designs design review code review and implementation
Champion operational technical and process improvements
Work with your manager and other engineers in delivering to the roadmap
Interact with customers to respond to queries issues and complaints

As a Software Development Engineer youll work on critical systems that power AWS infrastructure. Heres what you can expect:

3 years of building complex software systems experience
3 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
Experience with full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations

5 years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design (architecture design patterns reliability and scaling) experience
5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Masters degree or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
