- Estimate Compensation: $28.41 $39.42/per hour
- Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year occurring on day one.
- Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year occurring on day one.
- Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays.
- Relationship: Employee of our company and/or 1099 Independent Contractor.
Working Hours:
Work hours will normally be from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm with a 30minute unpaid lunch break. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution. The Medical Laboratory Scientist shall not normally exceed 30 hours per week.
SUMMARY
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs complex laboratory tests on patient specimens to aid in the diagnosis treatment and prevention of disease. The MLS ensures the accuracy and reliability of test results through quality control maintenance of laboratory equipment and adherence to established protocols and safety standards.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Completion of a formal Laboratory Technician Training Program (or equivalent) with at least 6 months of course credit.
- Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience as a Laboratory Technician.
- Current certification in CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist through the American Society of Clinical Pathology or American Medical Technologist
- A valid Drivers license.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology microbiology chemistry immunology and transfusion services.
- Analyze interpret and validate test results ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Operate calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Collect and process biological specimens following proper procedures and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of test results quality control and equipment maintenance.
- Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
- Collaborate with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic information.
- Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g. CLIA CAP Joint Commission).
- Train and mentor laboratory technicians students or new staff as needed.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
Attire:
Attire The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.
