Job Overview:
We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team in Elgin IL. This position involves installing maintaining and troubleshooting specialized packaging equipment for the food industry. The ideal candidate will have handson experience with electromechanical systems pneumatics AC/DC motor control PLCs and VFDs.
This role requires extensive travel (up to 80%) throughout North America to provide onsite support maintenance and training for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of equipment and associated systems.
- Provide installation expertise at customer sites and conduct preinstallation assistance.
- Read and review blueprints plans and specifications to prepare for startup or service.
- Conduct onsite training for customer personnel on proper equipment operation.
- Build strong customer relationships by providing effective onsite and telephone support.
- Collaborate with engineering project management and spare parts teams to resolve issues.
- Provide written service and expense reports on all activities carried out on site.
- Document and label defective parts resulting from repairs.
- Make technical recommendations to maintenance technicians and plant operators.
- Comply with all safety policies ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Maintain and secure all tools materials and equipment provided for the role.
- Support the manufacturing or engineering teams with customer projects as needed.
- Assist the parts department with recommended spare parts for customers.
- Provide technical support to other Field Service Specialists in the field.
- Overtime may be required based on workload including some weekends.
Requirements:
- Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent preferred.
- 23 years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the Packaging Equipment field is desirable but not required.
- Strong handson experience with ElectroMechanical systems Pneumatics AC/DC motor control PLCs and VFDs.
- Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently and think critically.
- Must maintain a valid drivers license and a valid passport for international travel.
- Ability to work overtime including some weekends as workload requires.
- Ability to use a computer for creating reports and managing data entry tasks.
- Smartphone proficiency for jobrelated applications and timekeeping.
- Must maintain a clean and professional appearance when working with customers.
