The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidates qualifications skills competencies experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

Join our team as the Principal of Grid Strategy!
Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is hiring a Principal Grid Strategy to lead strategic planning efforts that shape the future of the regional power grid. This role requires deep expertise in SPPs transmission system tariff and planning processes. Youll work across internal teams and external stakeholders to drive policy development improve planning processes and ensure longterm grid reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and technical guidance for transmission strategy and planning initiatives.
- Monitor and respond to FERC and NERC regulatory changes affecting grid planning.
- Develop and revise tariff and governing documents in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Represent SPP in regulatory and stakeholder forums as a subject matter expert.
- Build consensus through technical working groups and stakeholder engagement.
- Drive alignment with SPPs mission core values and corporate strategic objectives.
To be successful as the Principal Grid Strategy were looking for:
- Bachelors degree in business technical economics mathematics engineering or other related field.
- 15 years of relevant experience
- 13 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree in Electrical Computer Industrial Mechanical or Systems Engineering
- Working knowledge of the Open Access Transmission Tariffs as well as FERC & NERC governing documents
- Advanced knowledge of several power systems analysis tools applicable to power system steady state dynamic short circuit and database management systems
- Experience in multiple functions/departments
- Strong interpersonal and team work skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
Preferred:
Advance degree in related field of study
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a fulltime position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 extended hours may be required.
Travel Requirement:
- This position requires moderate travel (approximately 020%)
