You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailDirect the daily operations of EJ Thomas Hall venues and events. Supervise front of house management functions for the PerformingArts Hall events. Oversee all public areas of the theatre ensuring that the safety and comfort of all patrons. Maintain a positive image for The University of Akron and EJ Thomas Hall; the Events Services Manager is often the first and most important contact for all patrons. Maintain relationships answer questions and provide any assistance necessary during the ticket sales process to ensure a positive experience at the theatre.
Oversee audience support operations including house management usher programs audience safety concessions andmerchandising parking services support and lobby management. Maintain the appearance of the lobby and auditorium areas. Resolve any patron issues/complaints arising during productions and events.
Direct the supervision of personnel which includes work allocation training promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls and problem resolution; evaluate performance and make recommendations for personnel actions; motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Coordinate the activities of a large team of audience services volunteers oncall staff and students to include recruitment and selection orientation and training scheduling and work allocation and problem resolution; motivates volunteers and staff to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Collaborate and coordinate with other University areas Physical Facilities Operating Center University Police StudentRecreation and Wellness Center and other departments on campus to communicate events building and grounds information needshelp solve problems build positive relationships and participate on campus operational event sheets to include the schedule timing and building activity for all events within the and organize the building activity report with on campus entities including facilities maintenance HVAC and special services.
Serve as primary point of internal and external liaison and problem resolution for all patron services issues associated with events at EJ Thomas Hall. Coordinate performance support planning for productions and events; provide planning support for client use of front of house including merchandising lobby floor plans concessions signage and displays.
Coordinate special projects and/or program initiatives as designated by the program or directors such as research projectspresentations etc.; form and implement collaborations with external with special donors and Flying Balcony Club members
Assist in other university department front of house needs: donor events and other events as requested
Education:
Requires a Bachelors degree.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods and work nontraditional hours.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 2 years experience in major and/or special event management including: budgeting and coordinationof appropriate support services and scheduling facilities and knowledge of state and local fire safety regulationsrelated to crowd control and public events with University regulations operations and public events leading and training a large groups of volunteer staff time management public speaking organizational and budgeting skills four years of experience.
Leadership:
Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers.
Physical Requirements:
Light physical effort required involving stooping and bending; individual has limited discretion about walking standing etc.; occasionally lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 lbs.).
Working Conditions:
No major sources of working conditions discomfort standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise crowded working conditions minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems and/or up to 40% use of PC terminal.
