Systems and Digitization Librarian
The Digital Imaging Technician is a temporary part time grant funded position which runs through April of 2028. The Digital Imaging Technician will be responsible for imaging the Institutional Archives records of The New York Botanical Garden.
The Digital Imaging Technician will be an integral member of a dynamic team that is committed to careful stewardship and preservation of collections and to increasing access and discoverability of the Gardens unique holdings. This position will also work closely with the Library Conservators to properly handle collection items as needed.
Under the supervision of the Systems and Digitization Librarian the Imaging Technicians duties include but are not limited to image capture image correction assignment of metadata uploading of image files and metadata to several repositories operation and maintenance of software and hardware record keeping and documentation.
The Digital Imaging Technician must be able to meet challenging deadlines and work within complex workflows and schedules.
Bachelors degree with a minimum of two years of experience with digital imaging technologies. High school diploma GED or associates degree and two years of experience considered.
Knowledge of Capture One and Adobe Photoshop.
Experience working with small and medium format digital cameras in full manual mode and manual lens focus.
Ability to work with PhaseOne and Nikon digital camera equipment on vertical mounts.
In depth knowledge of digitization equipment and product offerings.
Ability to keep up with changing/emerging technology and to recommend replacement equipment and upgrades.
Selfstarter in troubleshooting photographic equipment and maintaining software upgrades as needed.
Excellent organizational skills and detailoriented.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Past experience with bibliographic materials and library software systems is a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position the employee is required to stand or sit for extended periods. Some retrieval and placement of collections is required. Must have the ability to remove boxes weighing up to 40 lbs. from shelves push fullyloaded book carts climb ladders reshelve boxes and bend or stoop as necessary.

Baseline Work Schedule:
This is an onsite inperson position. 20 hours per week.
Payrate: $24/hour
