Fresh off our Series A raise were poised for accelerated growth and were looking for a seasoned PartTime CFO to help us steer the companys financial strategy as we scale.
The Role
As our PartTime CFO youll be a strategic financial partner to the CEO and executive team. Youll help architect the financial future of Knapsack bringing operational rigor strategic modeling and investorready insights to a fastpaced productdriven environment. This is an ideal opportunity for a finance leader who thrives in earlystage startups and understands the nuance of SaaS metrics enterprise sales and capital efficiency.
While this role is be mostly remote we are looking for candidates located in or near the Portland OR area for frequent inperson meetings.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership:
Guide financial planning capital allocation and scenario modeling to support growth goals and longterm vision. - Operational Finance Oversight:
Manage all budgeting forecasting cash flow planning and KPI tracking. Ensure financial data supports agile decisionmaking across departments. - Investor Relations & Fundraising Support:
Work closely with the CEO and Board to prepare reporting packages fundraising materials and drive ongoing investor communications. - SaaS Metrics Management:
Implement and optimize tracking for key SaaS KPIs like CAC LTV net retention burn multiple and ARR growth. - Compliance & Risk Management:
Oversee financial compliance risk management accounting policies and controls. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors as needed. - Team Development & Tools:
Evaluate onboard and optimize finance tools and vendors. Mentor finance resources or external consultants when necessary.
Qualifications
- 7 years in a senior financial role ideally as a CFO or VP of Finance at a B2B SaaS or enterprise tech company.
- Experience in earlystage venturebacked startups especially through Series A to Series B growth stages.
- Deep understanding of SaaS business models enterprise sales cycles and financial best practices.
- Track record of supporting boardlevel reporting investor relations and fundraising activities.
- Strong modeling forecasting and analytical skills.
- CPA MBA or equivalent professional credentials preferred.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with some inperson availability in Portland.
Time Commitment
- Estimated 1020 hours/week with flexibility based on key milestones (e.g. board meetings funding cycles).
- Estimated 2535 hours/week during onboarding.
- Participation in monthly financial reviews quarterly board meetings and strategic planning sessions required.
