Job Description

The Custodial Technician is responsible for keeping our facilities and bus stops clean. The Custodial Technician will work with the Vehicle and Facility Manager and/or Operations Manager to set the professional standard for BCRTA.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Performs routine upkeep to all BCRTA facilities vehicles and bus stops.
  2. Cleans and maintains standards for offices common areas buses and bus stops. Duties include but not limited to vacuuming trash disposal dusting and window cleaning.
  3. Coordinates vehicle cleaning with the Vehicle & Facility Maintenance Manager or Operations Manager.
  4. Completes facility and vehicle checklist schedules for cleaning as required.
  5. Maintains the garage with all federal state and local guidelines.
  6. Evaluates and stocks consumable materials.
  7. Works with department managers to maintain supply stock.
  8. Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  9. Follows all BCRTA procedures and policy.
  10. Attends training events and meetings as assigned.
  11. Acts as a BCRTA ambassador projects a positive attitude and promotes superior customer service.
  12. Follows all BCRTA procedures and policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

Physical & Visual Activities:

Physically and mentally qualified to safely operate transit vehicles and perform all related essential job functions. (Subject to applicable legal requirements must meet the physical qualification standards specified in the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.)

Physical Abilities include:

  1. Floor Lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
  2. Knee lift strength of at least 30 lbs.
  3. Waist lift strength of at least 50 lbs.
  4. Chest lift strength of at least 20 lbs.
  5. Overhead lift strength of at least 20 lbs.
  6. Horizontal push/pull strength of at least 80 lbs.
  7. Medium agility/dynamic balance.
  8. Low finger dexterity.
  9. Low manual dexterity.
  10. Continuous ability to stay seated.
  11. Continuous ability to twist and turn head.
  12. Frequently able to bend over/stoop.
  13. Frequently ale to climb steps.
  14. Kneel or squat.
  15. Reach overhead.

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:

Occasional exposure to exhaust fumes.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of the operation of all the vehicles in the BCRTA fleet.
  2. Understand the difference between diesel and gasoline engines.
  3. Ability to follow oral and written direction.
  4. Attention to detail ability to memorize and retain.
  5. Working knowledge of the equipment in the facility.
  6. The ability to work alone on any project.
  7. Fluently read write and speak English.
  8. Ability to communicate with BCRTA management.
  9. Work calmly and clearly under stress and perform as a team player.

Experience:

  • None.

Education:

High School diploma or GED preferred.

Valid Drivers license preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CDL or ability to obtain preferred.
  • Clean motor vehicle record.

BCRTA is a political subdivision of the State of Ohio organized as a Regional Transit Authority under Ohio code. BCRTA acts as the designated recipient for Federal Transit Funds and provides public transportation services within and around Butler County Ohio including Hamilton Middletown Fairfield West Chester Oxford and Miami University.
