- Are undertaking or committed to undertaking a relevant qualification (Certificate or Diploma) and are looking for practical experience working in the community with people with a lived experience of mental health;
- Have a strong local connection to or interest in working with Aboriginal and diverse communities;
- Have awillingness to engage in learning and skill development opportunitiesthat work toward providing a high qualityperson led recoveryoriented service that best supports people to live in their community.
What Will You Be Doing
As the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Trainee you will learn to work in the community with people who havea lived experience of mental health to develop their recovery journey to meet their hope and dreams.
This may involve:
- Using your knowledge and understanding of Indigenouscultures within the context of supporting people with a lived experience of mental health.
- Supportingpeople to develop daily living skills such as preparing and cooking meals.
- Accompanying people on outings such as socialisation recreational activities orattending appointments.
- Collaborating with and making referrals to other culturally appropriatesupport services so people can achieve their recovery goals.

- Supporting you to register for and complete arelevant qualification in Community Work Mental Health or WelfareOR supporting you to gainexperience if you are already studying.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Commitment to the completion of Cert IV or Diploma level qualifications and willingness to engage in learning and skill development opportunities.
- Commitment to developing an understanding of recoverybased practice and the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of a mental health issue.
- Current Australian drivers licence.
Highly desirable:
- Experience working in Aboriginal and diverse communities.
- A personal lived experience of a mental health issue or experience in a carer role.
All appointments with Flourish Australias Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance a National Criminal History Check a WWCC previous employment reference checks satisfactory Australian residency status and other background checks.
