Employment Type: Part Time 21 hours per week
Duration: 2 Years Fixed Term
Remuneration: Level 7 $110K $119 K pro rata (based on experience) 17% Super Annual Leave Loading
Location: Kensington Sydney New South Wales

Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Research Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing key research initiatives at The Kirby Institute UNSW with a focus on HIV and Triple Elimination in the Asia Pacific region.
Supporting the ACTUPPNG project under the leadership of Professor Angela KellyHanku of the Asia and Pacific Health Program the role involves applying strong theoretical and technical expertise to produce policyrelevant findings related to HIV transmission and drug resistance. The Senior Research Officer will also provide highlevel technical research and project support to senior academic staff contributing to the successful execution of multiple research projects.
This position is within the Global Health Equity and Justice Research Group. The role reports to the Professor within the Asia Pacific Health Program The Kirby Institute and has no direct reports.
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience in HIV epidemiology and molecular sequencing.
- Previous experience working on HIV capacity building projects in the Asia Pacific region. Having experience working in Papua New Guinea is highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of research protocols experimental design and planning as involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
- Highlevel quantitative data management and research skills and a proven record in the management and use of large datasets/databases.
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications including MS Office suite Excel Word PowerPoint Teams; reference management software SPSS or similar.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated ability to work with write for communicate with and present to a range of audiences regarding quantitative statistics and research findings.
- Sound influencing and consultation skills and proven ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
