Job Description
Summary: As a Monitor Tech at MUSC you will play a crucial role in monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms for patients in various healthcare settings. Your responsibilities will include observing cardiac monitors recognizing abnormal rhythms and promptly alerting healthcare professionals to any changes in patient status. With your vigilance and attention to detail you will help ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor Cardiac Rhythms: Watch cardiac monitors continuously to observe patients heart rhythms and detect any irregularities or abnormalities.
Recognize Alarms: Quickly recognize and respond to monitor alarms indicating changes in heart rate rhythm or other cardiac parameters.
Notify Healthcare Team: Alert nurses physicians or other healthcare providers immediately when abnormal rhythms or significant changes in patient status are detected.
Document Observations: Record and document cardiac rhythms alarm events and interventions accurately and in a timely manner in the patients medical records.
Maintain Equipment: Ensure proper functioning of cardiac monitoring equipment by performing regular checks troubleshooting technical issues and reporting malfunctions promptly.
Communicate Effectively: Communicate clearly and effectively with members of the healthcare team providing concise and accurate information about patients cardiac status.
Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patient safety and wellbeing by promptly addressing any concerns or issues related to cardiac monitoring and reporting them to the appropriate personnel.
Collaborate with Team: Collaborate with nurses physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and facilitate timely interventions as needed.
Follow Protocols: Adhere to hospital policies procedures and protocols related to cardiac monitoring patient safety and confidentiality.
