The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Division of Aviation a recognized leader in air mobility innovation promotes the economic wellbeing of North Carolina by developing a safe and robust air transportation system. As the states aviation authority the division manages state and federal airport infrastructure development grant projects in collaboration with local government owners of the states 72 public airports the integration of advanced air mobility and unmanned aircraft systems for business and government use airport professional development aviation workforce development and flight services for state agencies.
The Statewide Airport Programs Manager Engineer III reports to the Deputy Director of Programs and Planning at the NCDOT Division of Aviation. This position will serve as the divisions program manager for all airport programs that do not fall within the bounds of the Airport Development Section. These programs currently include development of an asset management program to enhance lighting pavement facilities and other airside airport infrastructure the Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) program the meteorological towers program the 5010inspection program the airport maintenance program wildlife management and consultant services contracts. This position will serve all 72 public owned/public use airports across the state.
The Statewide Airport Program Manager:
This role will directly supervise the Airport Safety Preservation Engineer and the Airport Inspector positions. The Statewide Airport Programs Manager will typically manage between 3050 unique projects each year under these programs using his/her direct reports and consultants.

Bachelors degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
