*** Applicants seeking shortterm or parttime work with the University of Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions which include administrative professional and technical (APT) or instructionaltype positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for fulltime employees and up to 1 calendar year for parttime employees.

Salary: $30.29/hour

Full time/Part time: Parttime no more than 19 hours/week

Temporary/Permanent: Temporary

Other Conditions: Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected begin June 2025 or soon thereafter.


Duties:

  1. Assist UHH Boating Program Coordinator with various boating program operations including those for courses research activities and other operations as necessary.
  2. Assist with preparing boats for scheduled operations including classes.
  3. Ensure that boats trailers and all boating safety equipment is washed and cleaned and properly stored.
  4. Assist UHH Boating Program Coordinator with safety training boat operations and maintenance equipment organization and scheduling.
  5. Work closely with Faculty Boating Program Coordinator and other faculty/staff to ensure safe and professional operations for all boating program activities.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in any field and two (2) years of experience in maritime operations; or any equivalent combination of education/certification (e.g. valid captains license HI State boating license MOCC/MOTC) and/or professional work experience in maritime operations which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Basic boating operations safety and maintenance skills.
  3. Valid drivers license.
  4. Able to lift forty (40) lbs.


Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Basic computer skills.
