Job Description

A school psychologist plays a key role in supporting students ability to learn and teachers ability to teach by applying expertise in mental health learning and behavior. Heres a general job description for a school psychologist:Job Title: School PsychologistLocation: Central Vermont Supervisory Union Reports To: Director of Special Education / Principal / District AdministratorJob Summary:The school psychologist works with students teachers parents and administrators to identify students academic social emotional and behavioral needs. They provide assessments interventions and consultation to help students succeed in school and Responsibilities:Assessment & Evaluation:Conduct psychoeducational assessments to evaluate cognitive academic emotional and behavioral test results and write comprehensive in multidisciplinary team meetings to determine eligibility for special education & Support:Develop and implement individualized intervention crisis intervention and support during counseling services individually or in groups to address social emotional or behavioral & Collaboration:Consult with teachers parents and administrators to develop effective teaching strategies and classroom the implementation of schoolwide programs for mental health and behavior & Program Development:Promote positive behavior and mental wellness through schoolwide in the development of IEPs behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and 504 & Record Keeping:Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with legal and ethical adherence to federal and state laws as well as district :Masters or Specialistlevel degree in School Psychology (e.g. Ed.S. M.A. or Ph.D.)State certification or licensure as a school psychologistKnowledge of child development learning theories and evidencebased intervention practicesStrong interpersonal communication and organizational skillsPreferred Skills:Experience with diverse student populationsFamiliarity with MTSS/RTI frameworksProficiency in datadriven decisionmaking and report writing
