Job Description

THE POSITION

A County Social Services Aide plays a vital role in providing a variety of essential services and support for our children and families. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A County Social Services Aide 2 assists in providing routine activities such as transportation of clients and families supervising visitation and providing supportive casework services to clients. In this important role you will have the opportunity to assist families in the following areas: parenting discipline homemaker skills budgeting nutrition child development and medication.
Additional duties to include but not limited to:

  • Scheduling family visitation for caseworkers
  • Assisting caseworkers securing client information
  • Performing general office duties such as answering phone filing and use of office equipment
  • Attending staffings training and meeting as required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with 30minute lunch.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases the starting salary may be nonnegotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a County Social Services Aide 1; or
  • Graduation from high school or its equivalency and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or
  • An associates degree in sociology social welfare psychology gerontology criminal justice or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police clearance PA Child Abuse history clearance and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
