Job Summary:

The CU College of Nursing is seeking a fulltime (1.00 FTE) faculty member within the Instructional Faculty Series with expertise in teaching adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner and related content. This position may teach across programs and at multiple CU Nursing locations. Potential courses will include but are not limited to foundational and adultgerontology acute care content. This is an open rank faculty position within the Instructional Faculty Series at the rank of Instructor Senior Instructor Assistant Teaching Professor Associate Teaching Professor or Teaching Professor. Faculty rank will depend on the candidates qualifications experience and scholarship. The successful candidate must work effectively with faculty staff students and community members from diverse ethnic cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Faculty are integral to providing a highquality student experience. This position will interface directly with students. Along with other faculty who teach in the classroom this role is responsible for providing an engaging experience by maintaining competency in the subject matter being taught preparing teaching materials in alignment with current best practice guidelines and serving as a role model to students for professionalism.

This positions primary work location is the Anschutz Medical Campus Aurora Colorado and may also have teaching responsibilities as needed on the Legacy Campus in Lone Tree Colorado.

Successful candidates will have recent experience teaching in the areas of focus listed above a track record of excellence in academic teaching and scholarship experience that supports the ability to teach across programs. Responsibilities may include participation in the teaching practice and service mission of the College of Nursing and the University of of academic leadership such as curricular/program development is preferred. For APRN candidates a portion of the position may be devoted to clinical practice depending on the candidates experience and expertise.

While the primary focus for these positions resides in the teaching mission of the college service and scholarship to the university and the college are expected of all faculty members. A successful candidate will help foster a community of belonging and utilize a justice lens to effectively engage with all members of the CU Nursing community specifically faculty staff students and community partners with diverse identities.

This position may involve didactic and clinical teaching responsibilities. Didactic courses are taught in the classroom online or in blended formats. Supervision of clinical courses includes clinical conferences using online conferencing site visits and close communication with clinical preceptors.

Examples of work performed may include:

  • Facilitate learning by engaging students in highlevel learning activities related to application analysis synthesis and evaluation of course content.
  • Remain current with best practices in teaching pedagogy and cognitive learning theories.
  • Maintain clinical relevancy regarding guidelines and interventions pertinent to patient care. Serve as a role model to teach students how to interact assess and make sound clinical decisions.
  • Contribute to a psychologically safe learning environment foster the free exchange of constructive feedback encourage collaborative teamwork clearly outline expectations and cultivate a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching team(s) to foster continued quality improvement and shared decisionmaking regarding course content and assignments clinical experiences and/or evaluation methods.
  • Provide a climate of mutual respect open communication and collaboration. Act as a role model for patientcentered care.
  • Evaluate student application of knowledge.
  • Participate in professional development activities that address desired learning outcomes and align with an individuals role and the priorities of the institution.
  • Use educational technology task training devices and computerassisted instructional tools in the skills laboratory and classroom settings for teaching learning practice and assessment of clinical competencies.
  • Promote accountability among students by implementing clear guidelines and expectations for preparation engagement and selfdirected study/practice.
  • Instructional Track faculty are encouraged to contribute to the body of knowledge in simulation (e.g. publications editorials empirical research blogs social media and presentations).
  • Participate in professional service to the CU Nursing community.
  • Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course outcomes in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment.
  • Provide education through learnercentered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill patients evolving needs and meet the marketplaces workforce demands.
  • Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect lifelong learning diversity and ethics as well as personal and professional development.
  • Participate in activities that promote the stature of the academic programs and the College of Nursing as well as abide by the mandates set by the University of Colorado and the College of Nursing.
  • Participate in course curricular and program revisions/development as assigned.
  • Introduce students to skills needed to succeed in a progressive teaching and learning environment that incorporates ongoing innovative strategies for competency development.
  • Serve on divisional college and university committees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 24 years experience working as an AdultGerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Holds a current Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) designation.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching across nursing programs from undergraduate to DNP.
  • Collaborative record of teaching and scholarship.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $88000 to $95000

Senior Instructor: $92000 to $98000

Assistant Teaching Professor: $98000 to $115000

Associate Teaching Professor: $115000 to $130000

Teaching Professor: $130000 to $150000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
