Job Description

Job Description:

  • Reaching forIndependence ThroughStructuredEducation (RISE)

    A team approach to service delivery is utilized for students participating in the RISE program. These students receive academic instruction social skills training behavioral intervention and related services. Services are provided in range of settings from substantially separate to full inclusion in a general education classroom. A primary focus for all RISE students is to increase independence with a variety of skills including selfhelp social skills behavior management academics communication and executive functioning.

The RISE special education teacher will serve as the liaison for students with a range of severe special needs primarily focusing on students with an Autism diagnosis. Some students will receive a significant amount of instruction in small group settings while others will spend most or all of their day in the general education setting.

Qualifications:
  • Appropriate Massachusetts DESE certification and licensure required
  • Sheltered EnglishImmersionEndorsement required
  • Elementary coteaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge and expertise using formal and informal assessments required
  • Knowledge and experience with competency based and/or proficiency based learning preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleague parents/guardians and others in the delivery of effective services
  • Superior organizational writtenand verbal communication skills
Essential Dutiesand Responsibilities:
  • Complete formal and informal assessments as part of the regulatory process
  • Monitor student mastery of IEP goals and objectives using various assessments and data collection tools
  • utilize data to inform the development of academic and social emotional goals
  • Provide individualized and small group support and instruction across content areas to target IEP goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with general education teacher to adapt curricular materials in order to meet the individual needs of students
  • Meet all timelines in the IEP process including but not limited to participating in IEP meetings developing IEPs and progress reports completing evaluations and reevaluations.
