Richard Bland College (RBC) is a twoyear residential liberal arts transfer institution that focuses on preparing students for transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. The College is a hidden gem located outside the TriCities regionand its rural setting featuring 750 acres of wetlands bucolic forest and the states oldest and largest pecan grove.
RBC is currently seeking an exceptional Adjunct Government Professor. The primary role of this position is to provide collegelevel instruction and academicrelated activities designed to encourage support and enable student success. In addition to teaching Government at all levels and supporting the development of stronger interdisciplinary ties with other departments duties may include student advising and other responsibilities as determined by the Social & Behavioral Sciences Department chair.
This positions major responsibilities include:
Teaching Government courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures.
Preparing and submitting timely grade reports and other reports on student performance as required.
Organizing class activities and assignments relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the courses.
Providing input and working with other faculty and staff to review produce and/or select course related materials.
Minimum Qualifications
A masters degree (or higher) in Government (or a closely related discipline) from a regionally accredited college or university
Demonstrated knowledge of the subject area of instruction
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and instruction.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of first and secondyear college students.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and collaborative style.
Additional Considerations
Doctoral degree in Government/Political Science (or a closely related discipline).
Demonstrated experience as a college faculty member.
Demonstrated experience implementing innovative education delivery techniques.
