Job Description

Possess a basic understanding of the curriculum in the classroom(s to which they are assigned. Teach students individually and in small groups reinforcing skills based upon instructional guidelines. Provide feedback to the teacher on the students progress. Use appropriate teaching aids. Implement teachers lesson plans in small groups. Ability to learn new skills and knowledge. Know appropriate policies and procedures. Possess the ability to handle all matters in a professional and confidential manner. Assist in managing student behavior and maintaining classroom order to ensure the safety of students as well as adherence to appropriate conduct and disciplinary controls. Assists teachers in the supervision of learning activities circulating within the classroom and providing assistance and learning support to students. Provide instruction to students as prescribed by the supervising teacher and reinforce skills introduced by the teacher. Assist teachers in checking and objectively evaluating students work. Assists in the preparation of lesson plans and teachers preplanning sessions; provides input and assistance in the development of classroom activities and learning tools. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials. Perform support tasks such as copying materials laminating items typing correspondence and filing paperwork and documentation. Assists in preparing classroom bulletin boards classroom decorations displays of student activities and other classroom objectives. May be assigned monitoring duties. Other tasks as necessary.
