DIRECTOR OF MAJOR GIFTS & ENDOWMENT
Elizabeth Seton High School (ESHS) is a Catholic secondary college preparatory school for young women founded in 1959 by the Daughters of Charity. Located in Prince Georges County a suburb of Washington DC the school attracts students from surrounding counties and the District of Columbia. Job Summary
ESHS seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Director of Major Gifts and Endowment. This newly created role is a key leadership position within the Advancement Office responsible for securing significant philanthropic support to advance our mission. The Director will focus primarily on cultivating soliciting and stewarding major gifts with special emphasis on building resources to support our Athletics Program and expanding our endowment.
Responsibilities:
Major Gifts Strategy & Solicitation
- Develop and execute a comprehensive major gifts strategy to secure donations from individuals corporations and foundations.
- Identify cultivate solicit and steward prospective donors capable of making significant contributions ($25000).
- Focus fundraising efforts on supporting the Athletics Program including capital projects scholarships equipment and program expansion.
Endowment Growth
- Lead initiatives to grow the ESHS endowment through planned giving major gifts and other philanthropic opportunities.
- Partner with the Director of Advancement to implement endowment campaigns that align with our strategic priorities.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Build meaningful relationships with alumnae parents and community stakeholders to inspire longterm philanthropic engagement.
- Plan and execute donor recognition programs and events to express gratitude and showcase the impact of gifts.
- Work closely with the Athletics Department to identify funding needs and create compelling cases for support.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a key member of the Advancement Office leadership team contributing to the overall fundraising vision and strategy of the school.
- Collaborate with ESHS leadership faculty and staff to align fundraising initiatives with institutional priorities.
Reporting & Data Management
- Utilize donor management software to track interactions monitor progress toward goals and generate regular reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure all donor information is handled with accuracy confidentiality and professionalism.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and passion for athletics programs with experience fundraising in this area highly desirable.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in donor management software (e.g. Raisers Edge Blackbaud) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Commitment to the mission and values of ESHS.
- Enthusiasm for building relationships and inspiring generosity.
- High level of professionalism integrity and discretion.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree required advanced degree or certification in fundraising nonprofit management or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 57 years of experience in major gift fundraising with a proven track record of securing six and sevenfigure gifts.
- Strong understanding of endowment building and planned giving strategies.
