HealthPartners is hiring for an Audiologist AuD working out of our St. Paul Clinic

QUALIFICATIONS:


REQUIRED:


Must possess Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) from an accredited University program or have AuD completed within 6 months of hire.

Must possess and maintain current Minnesota Audiology license or possess current Minnesota Temporary Audiology license and on expiration of this temporary license possess and maintain current Minnesota Audiology license.

Must possess and maintain licensure or registration which allows for dispensing of Hearing Aids Dealers within the State of Minnesota. If not in possession of this credential at time of hire it must be obtained within 90 days of hire.


PREFERRED:


A minimum of five years experience working as an Audiologist.

Strong leadership organizational and problem solving skills.

Ability to interact with patients and staff in a courteous and cooperative manner.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Must possess manual dexterity good vision and must be selfmobile.


POSITION PURPOSE:


Service excellence is to be centered on patient care and patient relationships and is the responsibility of all employees. Teamwork is the norm and all employees will be held accountable to work as effective team members. The Audiologist provides diagnostic hearing evaluations and makes recommendations for the appropriate treatment plan. The Audiologist acts as a professional resource for the primary care physician.



ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Clinical Skills


Basic and complex audiological evaluation including pure tone air conduction bone conduction and speech testing

Clinical impedance audiometry

Special diagnostic testing for site of lesion malingering and other diagnostic problems

Skills to test both children and adults

Neonatal testing

ABR testing

ENG testing

Testing and evaluation in specialty area of Audiology such as Auditory Processing Disorders (APD) and Tinnitus Habituation Training (TRT)


Hearing Aid Dispensing Skills


Evaluate both basic and complex patients need for amplification with appropriate audiological testing and appraisal of patients hearing requirements.

Evaluate patients hearing aid using realear testing 2 cc coupler testing and functionalgain testing.

Counsel patients regarding the use and care of their hearing aid as well as the benefits of amplification and the importance of wearing a hearing aid.

Perform minor repairs and modifications of hearing aids.

Take earmold impressions and send them to an approved vendor.

Understand and explain to patients the various types of batteries available for their hearing aid cost and hours of usage.

Perform fitting of Assistive Listening Devices (ALD) for Auditory Processing Disorders.



Administrative


Work with manufacturers and vendors of hearing aids and batteries to establish a cost effective hearing aid program including the sale of batteries and possibly other hearing assistance technologies.

Work with physicians to set up an effective referral process for Audiological evaluation and hearing aid dispensing.

Train support staff to take earmold impressions (where appropriate such as Hearing Aid Dealers apprenticeship) clean and make minor repairs of hearing aids.

Work with Group Health administrators within the Group Health guidelines in organizing and maintaining the Audiology program.

Provide ongoing training and guidance to nurses and technicians doing hearing screenings and tympanometry in the systemwide clinics.

Teach occasional classes in hearing conversation testing and amplification to Group Health patients and staff.


Other


Identify research outcomes that might have valid clinical applications and apply the findings for clinical practice in the form of evidence based practice protocols.

Assist in the development of the protocols for Audiology Department.

Serve as a resource to other departments when an Audiology perspective is needed.

Summarize and evaluate clinical research relevant to Audiology and Hearing aids. Present this information to clinic staff as appropriate.

Assist with the introduction of new Audiological test procedures to Audiologist staff.
