Job Description

POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Altoona Division of Division of Business Health Humanities and Social Sciences invites applications for a fulltime nontenureline position at the rank of Instructor/Assistant Teaching Professor of English Composition. This position is a thirtysixweek appointment for fall and spring semesters with an August 2025 start date. Primary teaching responsibilities include 12 credits per semester (four courses) of composition classes such as ENGL 15 101 and 202 but there may be opportunities to teach courses that fit within the needs of the English program and the candidates experience. Candidates should demonstrate their experience teaching firstyear writing in their materials especially attending to their writing pedagogy and strategies for mitigating AI in the composition classroom.

Applicants should have at least a masters degree in English Rhetoric and Composition or related field. Candidates for the position at the rank of Instructor will possess a masters degreeand candidates for the position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor will possess a terminal/doctorate degree.

The position requires the teaching/advising engaging in scholarship and professional growth and providing service to the College community and the profession. Assistance with the ongoing growth and development of the program and participation in student recruitment/retention activities and program assessment is also expected. This is not a remote position and requires inperson teaching on campus.
