Primary Position Objectives |
The Mail Clerk reports directly to the Director of Security. The role is to manage a mailroom on campus where individuals of the campus community can send and retrieve packages and mail. |
Position Responsibilities |
- Manages a mailroom on campus where individuals can send and retrieve packages and mail.
- receives sorts documents delivers inspects and routes incoming and outgoing mail and packages utilizing tracking and mailing systems
- Gathers mail from every department and redistributes interoffice mail to appropriate offices/individuals on campus
- Takes and manages inventory of postal supplies
- Supports and answers all postal questions for customers requiring assistance
- Logs and processes entire outgoing and incoming special legal and certified mail
- Receives packages from parcel delivery providers (FEDEX UPS etc.)
- Manages cleans organizes and oversees entire mailroom operation
- Assists with campus recycling program
- Breaks down used boxes from shipping and receiving and prepares for recycling
- Manages and labels all student mailboxes year over year. Ensures mail from graduated students is managed and sent out accordingly.
- Prepares packages for mailing
- Leadership: All UWCUSA employees are expected to provide varying levels of leadership in order to support the UWC mission. Examples include but are not limited to:
- Actively participating and contributing to committee or task force assignments providing leadership in campuswide events or initiatives strategic planning efforts in the experiential education program the dormitories dining hall and/or in physical plant initiatives.

Position Skill & Qualifications |
Skills & Required | - High school diploma or GED
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and oral communications skills: must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues receivers and management to avoid errors in sending mail
- Basic computer operating skills for mail record keeping scanning of packages tracking # lookup etc...
- Data entry skills
- Must be able to lift carry and pull up to 60 pounds; ability to push up to 500 pounds
- Minimal climbing and balancing required
- Must be able to operate the following machines: delivery vehicles postage metered machine folding machine baler loaded 2wheel dolly and loaded pallet jacks
- Must be able to safely operate a boxcutter
