Job Description
TriState Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine a wellrespected and busy orthopaedic practice consists of 15 PAs 14 Ortho PAs (including a Coverage PA to help cover vacations and provide additional help in the OR) plus 1 Hospital PA dedicated to hospital rounds/medical records.
Our Practice offers growth opportunities; we will be adding another Orthopaedic Surgeon to our group in September 2025 and we continue to expand our orthopaedic urgent care services.
The PA positions offer the opportunity to connect with people on a oneonone basis as well as work with physicians in various orthopaedic subspecialties. Call is currently 1 in 15 (and will be 1 in 16 by late 2025). Physicians take first call for ER/Hospitals and the PAs take first call for patient calls/messages. Weekend and holiday call is paid and consists of rounds and assisting with any addon cases. Weekday evening call is minimal and usually entails answering patient messages. PAs with extensive orthopaedic experience are invited to staff our Ortho Urgent Care hours which are also paid separately.
Orthopaedic Surgical PA responsibilities include but are not limited to first assist at surgery H&Ps and assist in the office with the full spectrum of patient care including ultrasoundguided injections casting/splinting postoperative management followup care patient messages EMR documentation and injection clinics. They also assist with hospital rounding and orthopaedic consults. The opportunity to staff TriState Ortho Urgent Care hours is optional but encouraged and pays separately.
A minimum of two years of PA experience is preferred. Surgical experience and orthopaedic knowledge is required. Prior orthopaedic experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must be organized detailedoriented caring and passionate about patient care and possess good bedside manner and excellent interpersonal skills. EMR experience is also required.
TriState has four office locations in the Pittsburgh area including McCandless Seven Fields Robinson Township and Fox Chapel. As an independent practice we are able to care for patients with all insurance types. We are on staff at UPMC Passavant UPMC St. Margarets Heritage Valley Kennedy and AHN Wexford hospitals as well as the UPMC Harmar and AHN Wexford outpatient surgery centers. Travel to all offices/hospitals is required.
