Normal Work Schedule:Monday Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; limited nights and weekends.
Job Summary:The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical services and assists physicians within their specific scope of expertise. Makes independent decisions in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Assists and instructs students. Supervises other positions.
Additional Department Summary:Provides clinical services for the University Medical Center Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Clinic. Uses independent decision making in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Assists psychiatrists within their specific scope of expertise. Works to improve efficiency organization and patient/clinic flow. Assists with daytoday operations resolves issues and contributes to the improvement of quality of care as well as patient and provider satisfaction.
Follows all established clinical procedures and workflows for patient care and communication privacy/security and other regulatory requirements. Partners with the enterprise services division of the college including Health Informatics Medical Billing Medical Records and others to ensure patient billing and documentation are complete and accurate.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of behavioral/mental health. Current/valid RN license in the State of Alabama. Two (2) years of nursing experience.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a postoffer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge:Excellent clinical organizational and administrative skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively with student patients faculty staff and other health care professionals. Ability to multitask in a fast paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization always exercising utmost discretion diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions. Ability to maintain strict confidentially of protected health information and follow HIPAA regulations at all times.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience providing behavioral health services to various agepopulations including children adolescents and adults.
