Job Summary/Controls

The Teacher is responsible for all supervision management and planning. The Teacher will work with community center program staff to facilitate the utilization of needed services to the students (Grades 1st 6th ) and their parents. This incumbent is responsible for keeping accurate reports and forms on each student and guaranteeing that all of the necessary forms are completed and maintained. The selected candidate will be passionate about the Authoritys mission and will strive to advance the mission vision and values to internal and external stakeholders.

Schedule: Mondays Fridays; 9AM 12PM
Assignment: Summer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests.
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction demonstration and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe question and investigate.
  • Maintain accurate complete and correct student records as required by laws district policies and administrative regulations. Verify accuracy of attendance list.
  • Observe and evaluate students performance behavior social development and physical health.
  • Guide and counsel students with adjustment and /or academic problems or special academic interests.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their childrens progress and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students needs and progress.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials in order to prevent injury and damage.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
  • Attend professional meetings educational conferences and teacher training workshops in order maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Supervise evaluate and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers.
  • Serve meals and clean up after meal preparation in accordance with ODE.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or closely related field. Ohio Teachers certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of teaching tutoring or educational program work or combination. Preferably with elementary school age students.

Skills

  • Must have good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests.
  • Must have strong communication skills to discuss students progress and needs with parents and guardians.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching math and science courses preferably to elementary school age children.
  • Must have experience preparing lessons plans focused on State of Ohio assessments.

A valid Ohio drivers license with fully insurable driving record.
