Mount Greylock Regional School District is seeking applicants for a 1.0 FTE Reading Specialist Teacher position for theacademic year for Williamstown Elementary School (PreK6):
JOB TITLE: Reading Specialist (WES)
REPORTS TO: Principal
POSITION: MGEA Educator Fulltime (10 month employee)
POSITION SUMMARY: Reading Specialists work extensively with students to improve specific reading skills working with the five components of reading: phonemic awareness phonics vocabulary fluency and comprehension skills. This teacher helps students develop proficient reading skills that will contribute to their academic growth. The reading teacher provides leadership coordination collaborationand innovation in reading instruction for general and special education teachers within the school. The Reading Specialist should be aware of current trends research and best practices related to reading instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS:Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in the specific subject area(s): Reading Specialist All Levels & Elementary Degree from an accredited college or university; Masters Degree interpersonal communication and organizational skills and ability to work with all Associate Level certification to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching in datadriven decisions to alter instruction and with Multitiered systems of support and Response to intervention models.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Planning and implementing standardsbased lesson planning with clear objectives. Using a variety of culturally and linguistically sustaining best practices appropriate for teaching students from diverse backgrounds with different learning styles and needs. Designing and demonstrating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. Assessing levels of student achievement effectively analyzing data and prescribing actions for improvement. Actively participate in Team meetings to help make referrals for special education if needed. Providing a motivating and stimulating safe and supportive learning environment. Adapting lessons for individual small group and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students. Communicating orally and in writing with students parents and others. Working collaboratively and cooperatively with teachers in planning instruction to meet the needs of a diverse population of learners. Modeling effective teaching strategies and techniques. Participating in schoolwide professional development activities. Actively participate in monthly reading teacher Professional Learning Time meetings. Communicating high standards and expectations for all students. Performing duties as requested by the Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is subject to the provisions of M. G. L. Chapter 71 and the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between the Mount Greylock Educators Association and the Mount Greylock Regional School Committee.
BENEFITS & COMPENSATION: The salary range for Educator positions with Mt. Greylock RSD are commensurate with education and related experience with annual salaries ranging from $50474 to $110 081 (for).
