Position Summary
About the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor The Provosts office works to build and improve an environment that helps the university reach its goal of being known globally for excellence in education research and community service. We focus on strengthening academic programs supporting faculty development and promoting student success. With the help of a team of associate and assistant vice chancellors the Provost oversees various programs and initiatives. As the chief academic officer at IU Indianapolis this role is responsible for reviewing assessing and suggesting changes to academic policies and programs. Job Summary The Associate Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Initiatives oversees the degree approval process manages a portfolio of degrees oversees the accreditation and program review functions and leads special initiatives for the Office of the Provost. The responsibilities of the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Initiatives include: Overseeing the degree approval process and coordinating with the Academic Leadership Council: Ensure timely progression of degree proposals through the degree approval process. Manage regular communication and support of academic units throughout the degree proposal process. Serve as a resource to Undergraduate Education and Graduate Education on the degree approval process. Serve as an exofficio member on the Undergraduate Affairs Committee and Graduate Affairs Committee. Ensure standard processes across graduate and undergraduate credentials. Coordinate market analyses of potential programs to ensure sufficient market demand for new programs. Represent IU Indianapolis on the ALC Technical Committee. Coordinate presentation of degree programs to the Indiana Commission of Higher Education. Streamline and standardize degree approval processes. Managing a portfolio of degrees to include monitoring enrollments and collaborating with units on planning for new credentials and discontinuation of lowdemand credentials: Oversee accreditation and program review functions. Supervise Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Effectiveness (who serves as the Academic Liaison Officer to the Higher Learning Commission) and ensure all processes related to accreditation are in place. Ensure timely implementation of the program review process. Lead special initiatives for the Office of the Provost such as: collaboration with faculty around analysis recommendations and actions tied to the COACHE survey on faculty satisfaction. Assist with investigations (as needed) related to various Indiana University and Indiana University policy matters. Collaborate with the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs to provide support consultation and guidance related to leadership of faculty and school leadership. Oversee leadership programming for Chairs and Associate Deans. Collaborate with the Office of Civil Rights Compliance around faculty accommodations. The deadline for application submissions is Monday June 2nd 2025.
