Position Summary:
The creative video producer will handle the management and daily video operations of postproduction video for the Department of Athletics. This position will be responsible for creating highend features and stories that evoke emotion and convey a specific message while providing creative input for postproduction video branding needs. It is expected that the individual will serve as the lead for digital capturing and production and will interface with various internal and external constituencies including but not limited to Marketing Communications and the Owl Club. This position will play an integral role in creating game day tunnel/hype videos feature stories commercials and other content for all athletics invenue video boards and digital platform needs.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in filming and film editing an interest in athletics and a willingness to work collaboratively within the Athletics Department and the Rice University community.
Oncampus position:
This position is exclusively onsite necessitating all duties to be performed in person. PerRice policy 440 work arrangements may be subject to change.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree
- 1 year of experience working with filming video production and/or film editing
Skills:
- Technical experience using digital media equipment video creation editing software and/or digital media control software
- Knowledge of production techniques including videography compression and file delivery
- Knowledge of camera lighting sound and editing
- Understanding of the online video environment and online distribution
- Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setups or workarounds if necessary
- Interpersonal skills judgment and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Time management skills
Essential Functions:
- Creates and/or edits raw video into a finalized format for a variety of web broadcast and other communications projects and outlets
- Determines audio music and visual effects necessary to complete videos arranges video clips into sequences and uses editing equipment
- Transcodes raw digital video into editable file formats organizes and archives video footage and maintains and catalogs all productions
- Sets up and operates audio and video equipment such as microphones lighting video cameras etc. depending on specific projects
- Coordinates inventory of all audio and video equipment
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions:
- Conceptualizes records and edits professional video and motion graphics packages to serve the departments branding objectives
- Supports marketing campaigns through the development of video packages for online platforms that promote ticket sales fundraising campaigns upcoming events and/or additional department initiatives
- Leads initiatives that showcase and promote the studentathlete experience and provide inside access to further a personal connection with fans
- Serves as the staff resource for the latest in video style production resolution and mobilecompatibility strategy
- Hires trains and supervises students and interns
- Complies with all Rice University Athletic Department AAC and NCAA regulations
