Position Purpose and Summary
The Senior Safety and Security Specialist will play a critical leadership role in coordinating and managing all safety and security operations for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.s 57th National Convention with an expected attendance of 20000 participants. This position will serve as the secondary safety and security liaison during planning onsite execution and postevent debriefing. The position will ensure the protection of attendees staff vendors VIPs and assets across all venues and activities associated with the Convention.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates and integrates plans with local law enforcement fire EMS emergency management and private security partners.
Conducts threat assessments and site security surveys of all venues and affiliated event locations.
Assists in the oversight deployment and coordination of contracted security personnel medical personnel offduty law enforcement and ERT volunteers.
Monitors situational awareness and intelligence feeds to adjust security posture in realtime.
Manages the Event Security Operations Center (ESOC) in partnership with public safety stakeholders.
Supports continuity of operations and crisis communications planning for major incidents or disruptions.
Conducts safety and security orientations for key personnel and partners prior to and during the event.
Participates in afteraction reviews debriefs and the development of improvement plans.
Submits a final report summarizing safety/security operations incidents and recommendations for future events.
Manages deployment of safety and security resources including but not limited to radios and medical equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)
Bachelors degree in criminal justice emergency management homeland security or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in public safety law enforcement military or corporate/event security.
Demonstrated success managing security for largescale events. Experience of 10000 attendees preferred.
Experience with National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).
Proven ability to work collaboratively with public safety agencies and venue management.
Strong communication problemsolving and crisis management skills.
Ability to work long hours including nights and weekends during the National Convention assignment.
Proof of comprehensive COVID19 vaccination is required.
