Position Summary:

The Learning and Talent Development (L&TD) Consultant plays a key role in the implementation and execution of the Kemper Life Talent Management team. This critical role is responsible for creating and implementing learning and development and onboarding programs as well as program management administrative and planning tasks related to these functions. The successful candidate should have excellent facilitation and some content design experience. The L&TD Consultant will support the L&TM Senior Manager in executing the Learning & Development strategy and goals for the Kemper Life field organization to develop and retain top talent. The L&TD Consultant will work across the entire field organization to understand and assess business goals identify performance gaps and develop strategies and solutions that close the gaps to drive impact.

Ensures an effective learning experience for participants by partnering with other members of the department stakeholders subject matter experts and participants to meet defined learning needs and goals. Facilitates learning in both classroom and online settings and apply a variety of learning media and delivery position researches subject matter and utilizes assessment tools and reviews content for accuracy applicability and completeness.

This position is also responsible for timely completion of assigned projects and effective execution of learning and development processes to meet established objectives.

This is a highly visible position that requires adaptability interaction with all levels of employees and management to address skill gaps and development needs. The incumbent must foster crossfunctional relationships effectively with business partners and embody our Act Like an Owner culture.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Executes and supports the Kemper Life Kemper Corporate and Kemper Life field Talent Management Strategies.
  • Collaborates with Centers of Excellence and other training teams throughout the organization for optimal success.
  • Collaborates with process owners to ensure a consistent interpretation and application of procedures.
  • Develops and nurtures a productive relationship with Business Unit Leaders and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Becomes proficient in new processes/technology to serve as a resource/expert for the Learning & Talent Management team.
  • Needs Analysis: Effectively assesses learning and development needs by partnering with key business stakeholders subject matter experts (SMEs) end users and other Learning and Development professionals in the analysis of training needs.
  • Analyzes existing processes current behaviors and desired outcomes to identify and validate process and performance issues.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and stakeholders to investigate performance trends.
  • Conducts process reviews and recommends changes. Identifies and documents best practices.
  • Establishes appropriate learning goals based on findings.
  • Creates detailed specifications for the development implementation and evaluation of instruction to meet learning goals.
  • Instructional Design and Development: Assists design team composed of stakeholders subject matter experts (SMEs) end users and other Learning and Development professionals in the development of instruction.
  • With Instructional Designer outlines course structure and determines appropriate delivery method.
  • Creates presentations multimedia modules job aids handouts exercises and facilitator guides.
  • Conducts train the trainer sessions and submits courses for continuing education credit when appropriate.
  • Instructional Delivery: Reviews instructional materials and adapts for organizational needs.
  • Facilitates learning in both classroom and online virtual settings. Displays an understanding of learning styles instructional processes and media that facilitate learning of large and small units of subject matter at all levels of complexity.
  • Prepares course materials manages learning environments and motivates participants to reach defined learning objectives.
  • Ensures a successful learning experience by providing leadership modeling behavior and adapting to learning style preferences.
  • Solicits feedback from and communicates outcomes to learners and management. Identifies annotates and initiates revisions based on feedback.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in training related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 35 years of experience in training and/or education
  • At least 35 years of experience in a corporate or business setting preferred
  • Travel up to 50% is required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven organization and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Microsoft Office skills including EXCEL
  • Extensive experience effectively managing multiple tasks and changing priorities in a complex business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
