A DJS Case Management Specialist I is theentry level of work providing case management services to juveniles in a residential setting. Employees coordinate the delivery of services and treatment plans for juvenilesdetained pending adjudication disposition or committed to the Department ofJuvenile Services.
An individual in this position isexpected to:
Education: A Bachelors degree from an accredited collegeor university.
Experience: None.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute possession of anAssociate of Arts degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminaljustice from an accredited college or university and two years of experienceproviding direct services tochildren in a community or residential setting for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military serviceexperience as a commissioned officer in Social Services classificationsor Social Services specialty codes in the Social Science Psychology andWelfare field of work on a yearforyear basis for the required education.
1. Experienceworking with justiceinvolved youth while supporting rehabilitation.
2. Experiencesuccessfully building rapport and developing boundaries.
3. Experiencecoordinating services across multiple systems.
5. Strong problem solving skills during crisis situations.
1. Candidates appointed to positions in this classificationmust obtain certification by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned dutieswhich require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such dutieswill be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in theState of Maryland.
3. Employees in this classification that are employed at DJSYouth Centers may be required to complete a Board approved medication techniciantraining program and possess a valid Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON)certification as a Medication Technician.
1. In accordance with the Correctional Services ArticleSection 8209 of the Annotated Code of Maryland the Maryland CorrectionalTraining Commission shall establish the minimum qualifications for probationaryor permanent appointment of a Department of Juvenile Services employee in amandated position. These requirements are listed in detail in the Code ofMaryland Regulations 12.10.01.04 general regulations of the MarylandCorrectional Training Commission and include:
A thorough background check including fingerprinting and drugtesting
An oral interviewand Physical and psychological examinations.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09 Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.Please make sure that you provide sufficient information on your application to show that you meet the qualifications for this recruitment.
