GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Pension Benefits Specialist II aims to assistinthe training implementation and expert administration of Wyoming Retirement System (WRS) Pension Benefits Team policies and procedures.Supporting Pension Benefits Specialists I with the counseling of members on the benefits provided bytheWRSs 8 different pension plans. The Pension Benefits Specialists II assist in reviewing estimatesretirementsrefundsQDROsdisabilities and deceased benefits while helping to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information shared with WRS members.

Responsible for processing estimates retirement and refunds in the 8 pension plans.
Provide leadership and support to 4 Pension Benefit Specialists.
Delivers member education on all WRS benefits through oneonone counseling without providing recommendations or guidance.
Assists in the training of new member benefit specialists with ongoing coaching and training.
Assists in reviewing the final refunds and retirements for accuracy verifying account services and account balances for members and assisting in resolving any discrepancies.
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to candidates who show the ability to think independently with little supervision and can effectively lead the department in the absence of the supervisor.
Complete knowledge of the benefit and actuarial structures of the eight defined benefit plans administered by WRS
Complete understanding of State Statutes Board Rules and internal policies.
Skills in mathematics of finance algebraic calculation oral and written communication time management and organization.
Skills in gathering evaluating and computing financial data including high/analytical thinking and reasoning.
Ability to communicate and work with various agency personnel at all levels.
Maintain a high level of performance and professionalism with little supervision.
Ability to interact with office personnel in a team environment.
Working knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint and Google GSuite. Expertise with Wyoming Retirement System database access systems.
Some knowledge of investment terminology concepts and practices.
