You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is hiring a WaterWastewater Facility Operator III to manage the daily operations of the WaterWastewater Plant at Arizona State Prison Complex Eyman. In this role youll operate and maintain water treatment distribution and wastewater systems ensuring compliance with state health and environmental regulations.
Youll also collect and analyze water samples adjust chemical treatments supervise inmate workers and keep accurate maintenance records. Maintains and operates wastewater treatment plant and equipment
Monitoring compliance with state health regulations and EQA regulations
Implements corrective water treatment/wastewater treatment procedures
Adjusts chemical dosages on analysis collects samples performs and analyzes tests records and correlates data
Maintenance of portable water system pump and tank
Supervises the work of inmates
Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and all are accounted for
Test and treats Wastewater Treatment Plant; Sends sample to laboratory maintains logs documents test results and distributes to proper individuals/entities
Testing and chlorinating the portable water system
Drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
Principles and techniques of operating and maintaining a reservoir water system including reservoir management and intake structures
Principles and practices of surveying water sources and surface storage
Storage facilities distribution system facilities distribution system operation and maintenance disinfection and safety
Computer logging and graphing methods related to water treatment and distribution
Federal and state rules and regulations regarding water quality treatment and reporting requirements
Transportation of fuel using a tanker truck
Practices materials tools and equipment used in sewage plant operation and maintenance
Physical biological and chemical aspects of wastewater treatment
Skill in:
Written and verbal communication
Reading and comprehending administrative policy regulatory laws and procedures
Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings
Using hand tools and equipment used in maintaining roads pipelines culverts valves pumps and meters
Using a computer to enter/retrieve data
Estimating costs and ordering materials
Organization and time management
Collecting field data to prepare maintenance logs and reports
Ability to:
Lift/Carry 50lbs
Push/Pull 50lbs
Walk/Run 0.25 miles
Work in a prison environment
Read and comprehend water flow meters and gauges
Provide firstline supervision to subordinate staff and inmate work crews
Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships
Learn and adhere to department policies and procedures
Perform heavy physical labor
Certification equal to or higher than the facility grading. Arizona Systems are Grade 1 through 4 in all four disciplines: Water Treatment Distribution Waste Water Collection and Waste Water Treatment
Grade 1 through 4 Waste Water Collection System Operator Certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) for water treatment and distribution and/or a Grade 1 through 4 Waste Water Collection System Operator Certification for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality for Water treatment and distribution or equal above the facilitys grading.
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation drug test and a medical/physical examination.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R210207.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Positions in this classification participate in the Corrections Officer Retirement Plan (CORP).
