Responsibilities
Perform a variety of building maintenance functions including regular maintenance tasks and completing basic work orders. Carry out basic plumbing painting and carpentry work as needed. Assist with the setup and breakdown of events and activities. Maintain tools equipment the shop and vehicles in good working condition. Participate in snow removal activities including shoveling snow blowing and plowing. Complete initial and annual regulatory compliance and safety training as assigned and ensure compliance with occupational safety and health standards rules and regulations. Report any hazards unsafe work practices or accidents to the supervisor immediately. Take on oncall phone responsibilities after training and qualifications are met. Primarily a Monday through Friday 1st shift job but the ability to work evenings weekends for winter storms and an oncall rotation. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school education with 3 to 5 years of relevant technical training/experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Broad knowledge in carpentry maintenance and repair painting locksmithing and general plumbing. Proficiency with basic computer functions including email and Windows applications. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Knowledge of door and window functions and mechanics. Ability to interact effectively with university staff students faculty and the broader community. Strong organizational skills for managing both clerical tasks and tool/inventory maintenance in the shop. Able to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues. Familiarity with operating woodshop tools safely and efficiently. Solid general knowledge of building construction and repair. Ability to perform physical tasks required for the role including lifting bending and working in various conditions.
