TITLE: Instructional Coach (TOSA)
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Learning and Teaching or their designee
POSITION SUMMARY
The Instructional Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) serves as an integral member of the instructional leadership team supporting the implementation of districtwide curricular and instructional initiatives. The TOSA provides jobembedded professional development models effective instructional practices facilitates datadriven instruction and collaborates with educators and administrators to promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning. This position is nonevaluative and is designed to build teacher capacity enhance instructional quality and positively impact student achievement.

The physical/mental requirements described are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job and may be supplemented as necessary.
This is a sedentary position with light work that involves sitting a portion of the time but does require walking and standing for extended periods. This position requires accurate perception of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational and psychological materials and providing highly technical oral and written information and reports.
The job is performed with the majority of the time spent indoors and under minimal temperature variations; a portion of the day will be spent outdoors and is subject to a variety of changing weather conditions and potentially uneven/slippery surfaces.

This position is that of Instructional TOSA and is represented by the Monroe Education Association collective bargaining unit. The position will work a schedule in coordination with the Districts student calendar. Salary and benefits as determined by the current collective bargaining agreement. Employee is required to complete all mandatory district trainings.
The TOSA position is subject to conditions of Article VIII Section 10 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement which reads:
The District shall determine the need for teacher leadership to provide instructional support for any content area or program. All TOSA positions will be posted and open to all qualified applicants. Employees chosen to be TOSAs shall fulfill this role until either the TOSA requests a return to the classroom there is a mutually agreed upon decision for the TOSA to return to the classroom the district determines there is no longer a need for instructional support in that content area or program or it has been five years since the TOSA has last been in a classroom or has provided direct services to students at least part time. TOSAs shall have the right to return to their prior position or a comparable position from the level i.e. secondary or elementary of their prior position.
Employees chosen to be TOSAs may fulfill this role for five (5) consecutive school years provided that after the five (5) years the TOSA return to the classroom or provides direct services to students at least part time. Nothing will preclude the current TOSA who has served for five (5) consecutive years from applying again for the position after being in the classroom or has provided direct services to students at least part time for one year. Seniority and transfer provisions are not applicable in filling TOSA positions.
EVALUATION PROCEDURES:
The Instructional TOSA shall be evaluated by the Assistant Superintendent of Learning and Teaching or designee according to currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employees performance of the above position responsibilities.
