Additionally Buncombe County has a very rich benefits package including an 8% contribution to our 401(k) which is a free contribution not a match. We also have a state pension to which Buncombe County contributes about 11% and has a 5year vesting period. In addition we have firstinclass health insurance and generous paid time off plan including 13 paid holidays 12 days of sick leave that roll over each year and vacation accruals starting at 10 days per year which increases with service.

Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for performing mechanical work to repair maintain and rebuild gasoline and dieselpowered automobile and truck equipment.
Minimum Education Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the repair of gasoline and diesel automobiles trucks and heavy equipment; must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
Additional Training and Experience: Completion of routine safety training post hire.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: Possession of North Carolina valid drivers license; North Carolina Inspection License; May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I II III or Universal technicians as required by 40 CFR part 82 subpart F.

In order to uphold internal pay parity and equity salaries are nonnegotiable for new and current Buncombe County employees. All new employees are paid according to their years of relevant education and experience above minimum requirements for the position and employees have the opportunity to obtain pay increases via cost of living increases and promotions.
