Butterworth Hospital offers a wide range of advanced medical surgical and specialty care services that allow the urban campus in downtown Grand Rapids to serve as a major tertiary and quaternary referral center for West Michigan and beyond. These services include the only Regional Burn Center and Level I Trauma Center in West Michigan. Butterworth Hospital is a clinical leader in cardiovascular cancer obstetrics and gynecology orthopedics neurosciences trauma and emergency care services among many others.

Provides pharmaceutical care according to professional and departmental standards and statutory requirements. Provides safe effective rational and costconscious pharmacotherapeutic recommendations through the departments medication management programs. The Clinical Pharmacist assists in supervising the functional activities of Pharmacy Technicians and Interns. The clinical pharmacist has state of Michigan pharmacist in charge responsibilities for this pharmacy location including compliance to all regulatory requirements.
- Interprets and screens medication orders for appropriate agent dose route allergies and potential drug interactions. Safely compounds and dispenses medications for administration to patients.
- Evaluates patients orders appropriate laboratory tests and interprets serum drug levels utilizing pharmacokinetic principles; provides prescribers with dosage regimen recommendations to optimize therapeutic outcomes reduce patient risk and monitor the costs associated with drug therapy.
- Provides appropriate supervision and direction within appropriate skill level to technicians residents interns and other support personnel.
- Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field to maintain the professional competence knowledge and skills necessary for satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education including department and Spectrum Health specific requirements on a timely basis.
- Provides education and counseling to patients/family/significant others/members of the health care team in order to optimize outcomes and appropriate use of medications.
- Ensures that services are provided in accordance with State and Federal regulations organizational policy and accreditation/compliance requirements.
- Required Bachelors Degree Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
- 2 years of relevant experience hospital pharmacy Preferred
- American Society of HealthSystem Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency in Pharmacy Practice Preferred
- LICClinical Pharmacist STATEMI State of Michigan 90 Days required
- LICPharmacist Controlled Substance STATEMI State of Michigan 90 Days required
- CRTAdv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required Or
- CRTPediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required Or
- CRTBasic Life Support (BLS) AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
- Ideal candidate will be a Pharmacist possessing PharmD Degree and/or PGY1 Residency and/or PGY2 in Retail / Community / Ambulatory Pharmacy
- Ideal candidate will also possess strong understanding of retail or outpatient pharmacy operations will proactively ensure compliance with requirements as well as critically evaluate internal processes for continuous improvement
- As this role is expected to have significant growth in the next 6 months ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing environment will be critical
- Weekends would be as needed
- This position would be OnSite for the most part but could have a very small component of Remote work once everything is in more of a sustainable phase
