Nasson Health Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center with clinical sites in Springvale and Biddeford Maine. We serve York County and neighboring communities through provision of fully integrated medical dental and behavioral health care.
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC)
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) w/LCSW or LCPC
The Substance Use Counselor provides a combination of mental health and substance use counseling services to individuals in a communitybased integrated care environment. The position will involve providing direct care for patients with substance use and cooccurring mental health disorders while also collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to offer holistic treatment. This position is designed to promote health equity provide culturally competent care and improve patient outcomes in a primary care setting.
The role of a Substance Use Counselor with LADC or CADC with LCSW/LCPC credentials in an FQHC is integral to the mission of improving access to care for underserved populations. The providers ability to address both mental health and substance use issues in an integrated manner makes this position crucial to the holistic health of patients with a focus on continuity of care across multiple domains (medical behavioral social).
This role provides opportunities for impact and growth with a focus on advancing health equity and improving the overall wellbeing of the community served. The LADC or CADC:
- Leads group therapy sessions providing education support and skillbuilding for clients in recovery.
- Uses evidencebased therapeutic techniques (e.g. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Motivational Interviewing) to assist in the recovery process.
- Conducts comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to evaluate patients for substance use disorders cooccurring mental health conditions and other psychosocial factors.
- Formulates treatment plans based on patient assessments ensuring that goals are measurable individualized and clientcentered.
Qualifications Include:
- LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) certification in the state of employment w/LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) licensure.
- Certification or specialized training in substance use treatment preferred.
- Minimum of 23 years of experience in substance use counseling and/or mental health treatment ideally in a community health or FQHC setting.
- Knowledge of relevant local state and federal regulations including those related to substance use treatment and mental health services.
- Experience working with diverse populations including individuals from underserved and marginalized communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of traumainformed care recoveryoriented practices and integrated care models.
