JOB SUMMARYSizer School a North Central Charter Essential School is seeking a School Counselordedicated to student success to join our Student Services team. The Counselor supports theacademic success and educational goals of students. The Counselor serves as an advocateliaison coordinator case manager and consultant for students parents school staff andcommunity agency personnel. The Counselor works extensively with the Principal to overseeand manage the college and career programs and initiatives at the school. These include butare not limited to Early College High School dual enrollment Advanced Placementindependent studies and internships. The Counselor must have a love of working withstudents to plan their program of study and futures and believe that all students can succeed inachieving their RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides evidencebased counseling services for students in support of academicsocial emotional and behavioral growth. Develops and implements schoolbased support plans for students. Leads and/or participates in various student/teacher/family conferences includingFamily Group DecisionMaking meetings; reentry meetings Special Education Teammeetings and KidTalk (prereferral) conferences. Develops and/or updates student 504 Accommodation Plans and leads 504 meetings(initial annual review). Provides academic career postsecondary and college counseling. Establishes supports and grows relationships with collegiate career and communitypartners. Develops and maintains a college and career curriculum to serve the needs of students. Supports early college students throughout the college enrollment cycle. Assists students with selecting and registering for courses. Monitors encourages and tracks student progress toward college and career planningand readiness. Contributes to maximizing student success through academic supports mentoring andregular collaboration with school staff regarding student progress. Provides student and family supports to promote college and career attainment andsuccess to include support with completing the FAFSA. Schedules and supervises postsecondary tours field trips and career fairs for students. Schedules workshops presentations and speakers for college and career awareness. Collaborates with high school and college staff to ensure smooth student transitions topostsecondary educational opportunities. Maintains accuracy in data collection reporting and database management. Utilizes highlyeffective strategies to encourage students to plan college and careergoals and outcomes. Assists students in identifying best fit for postsecondary educational opportunitiesand/or career placement. Assists students in college scholarship and financial aid applications. Coordinates testing for students (e.g. AP college placement etc.). Organizes and monitors internship opportunities aligned with student career goals. Monitors gradelevel and graduation promotion requirements. Counsels students and monitors their preparation of materials related to the pursuit ofpostsecondary opportunities including college applications transcripts letters ofrecommendation and supplemental materials. Develops counseling curriculum for students in accordance with the MA Model 3.0: AFramework for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. Builds and manages student schedules in response to various student needspreferences and requirements for promotion/graduation. In collaboration with the Principal develops and maintains the master class SERVICES TEAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Partners with families to develop plans for responding to student needs. Maintains accurate records; collects and analyzes school counseling services data. Communicates and collaborates extensively with teachers administrators the schoolnurse family members external agencies and other student allies as needed topromote student success. Regularly monitors student academic progress. Encourages and provides system support in response to the needs of students and theschool community; supports the schoolwide Advisory Program. Performs duties related to data collection and input (Rediker Frontline and otherinformation systems). Maintains relationships with and acts as a liaison to outside agencies. Collaborates and consults on various grants that support student academic success.
