The Office of Attorney General seeks an Investigator for the Medicaid Fraud Abuse and Neglect Services (FANS) Division. The primary mission of Medicaid FANS is to protect taxpayer dollars by investigating and prosecuting healthcare provider fraud. Healthcare provider fraud occurs in many settings including nursing homes hospitals and pharmacies. Medicaid FANS also protects patients by investigating and prosecuting abuse neglect and exploitation that occurs in healthcare settings.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree from an accredited fouryear college or university be a certified law enforcement officer in the State of South Dakota and have three years of criminal or fraud investigative experience. Special consideration will be given to applicants with a background in nursing accounting or auditing.

Applicants must be able to meet all minimum standards for law enforcement employment and certification at the time of appointment. Applicants who are not law enforcement certified must complete a thirteenweek basic law enforcement certification course.

Licenses and Certifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited fouryear college or university be a certified law enforcement officer in the State of South Dakota and have three years of criminal or fraud investigative experience. Special consideration will be given to applicants with a background in nursing accounting or auditing.

This position is eligible for Veterans Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.

Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Successful applicant(s) will undergo an abuse and neglect screening. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.

For more information on how to acquire a National Career Readiness Certificate contact a South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation Job Service Office. A certificate is not necessary to be considered.
