TheDepartment of Communications at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified motivated and wellorganized applicants for a pool of parttime teaching appointments.

Department of Communications Advertising and Public Relations Program
The Advertising/Public Relations degree program is designed to help students develop an indepth understanding of the role and impact of advertising and public relations in both forprofit and nonprofit organizations. The program focuses on preparing students to become logical and innovative advertising and public relations professionals who also examine the ethical and cultural values in their practice.
The program also stresses both analytical approaches and critical thinking skills. Students will learn the foundations underlying persuasive messaging as well as analytical tools applied to advertising and public relations research. With this knowledge students will improve their ability to identify and investigate current AD/PRrelated issues by using an appropriate methodology and develop further strategic directions. In conjunction with the practical techniques the program will also guide students to appreciate the cultural aspects and ethical issues in advertising and public relation practices. Students can tailor their messages on the basis of understanding cultural differences and engage with ethical concerns.
Upon completing the program students will achieve a wealth of knowledge practical skills and the ability to think critically and strategically in developing promotional media messages and strategies.

The Advertising/ Public Relations degree program aims to train future advertising and public relations professionals in its laws ethics principles and practices and to maintain high standards of achievement while promoting independent and critical thinking.

The temporary nurse faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in midDecember; the Spring term begins midJanuary and ends in midMay. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities
Teach assigned courses in the departments curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Lecturer faculty in Advertising/Public Relations teach assigned upper and/or lower division courses in the major degree programs and in the departments shared curriculum. Courses may include: Media and Society; Digital Toolkit; Advertising Strategy and Writing; Introduction to Public Relations; Public Relations Writing; Culture Gender and Strategic Communications; and Integrated Communications Management. Temporary faculty must hold one office hour per week per class and should be able to teach facetoface hybrid and online delivery modalities.

Employment Requirement
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Salary and Benefit Information
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5507 $ 6677
Lecturer B: $6221 $13224
Lecturer C: $6825 $14523
Lecturer D: $8593 $15211
