Grants PreAward Specialist I JOB SUMMARY The Grants PreAward Specialist I supports the preaward process for grant applications and submissions. This position will assist in the preparation review and submission of grant and funding proposals ensuring compliance with funding agency guidelines and facilitating the coordination between the research team principal investigators (PIs) the finance office and all granting agency external funding sources. The role includes conducting external research to identify appropriate grant funding opportunities coordinating internal grant applications managing proposal deadlines and preparing necessary documentation to ensure smooth and successful grant submissions. Additionally the PreAward Specialist I will work closely with ACHE faculty and staff in supporting their proposal process at all levels including appropriate budget preparation and administrative coordination of the application process. The preaward specialist will provide this support to faculty and staff for all extramural and intramural funding activities. This support position will allow ACHE faculty and staff the ability to focus their expertise on the specifics of the grant and/or funding program description and application thereby expediting and improving funding success. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Participate with the ACHE research team in communicating coordinating and planning of research projects funding.
- Identify funding opportunities by investigating and promoting federal state private foundation and other available grant opportunities.
- Coordinate and assist faculty and staff with the preparation review and submission of grant/funding proposals ensuring adherence to the sponsors guidelines and institutional policies.
- Work closely with faculty staff and principal investigators to collect necessary data documentation and supporting materials for grant applications.
- Review and verify accuracy of grant proposals and budgets ensuring compliance with institutional federal and state regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of proposals submissions and funding opportunities within the institutions grants management software.
- Ensure all required forms certifications and approvals are obtained prior to submission.
- Provide reports and updates on the status of pending and awarded grants.
- Provide guidance on preaward processes including sponsor guidelines submission procedures and compliance requirements.
- Monitor proposal deadlines to ensure timely submission of all required documentation.
- Continue to learn and update knowledge in an everchanging funding environment.
- Other duties assigned by the Director of Grants Management or their designee.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education and Experience Minimum Qualifications - 13 years experience in sponsored research administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelors degree in business Public Administration or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in an academic or nonacademic research healthcare organization preferred.
- Skills in budget development interpreting regulations communication and customer service.
Required knowledge skills and abilities - Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office and Grants Management software.
- Display professionalism for ACHE in all internal and external communications and interactions.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty and staff at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
- Ability to prioritize and organize numerous and varied assignments.
