Position Summary

Under the supervision of the General Manager the Quality Control Technician inspects and receives incoming parts and materials performs inprocess and finished product inspections and coordinates the calibration of certified measuring equipment ensuring conformance to company quality standards and customer specifications.


Duties & Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Interpret detailed blueprints work orders engineering specifications and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits
  • Troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems in cooperation with Engineering and production staff.
  • Recommend methods of assembly welding and production
  • Perform inspection on first piece in process purchased part finished material and products ensuring conformance to specifications
  • Test finished products for paint quality and thickness welding quality dimensions fit blast profile and appearance
  • Perform standard inspection tests including air testing welds and magnaflux testing
  • Route product for rework
  • Complete all required records and paperwork including but not limited to inspection reports damage reports return reports and rework orders
  • Process purchase damage numbers when incorrect material is received
  • Ensure finished product is packaged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation
  • Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standard
  • Communicate with plant supervision noted deviations of tolerances and quality
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
  • Make recommendations regarding safe working methods
  • Follow all cleanup and housekeeping procedures
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to perform well in a team environment

  • Ability to read analyze and interpret complex documents such as blueprints routings work orders engineering specifications and safety regulations
  • Ability to write routine reports and documentation
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers and other employees of the organization
  • Requires the ability to operate various tools and equipment to include micrometers calipers dial indicators paint film gauge squares amp and volt meters hardness testers measuring tape profile gauge and various other precision measuring devices
  • Requires knowledge of welding painting and other fabrication methods useful
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dimensions tolerances proportions and percentages
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3 years of related manufacturing experience; or 5 years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience
  • Requires additional inhouse training on special areas as appropriate

Physical Demands

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms hands fingers legs and moving your whole body such as lifting balancing walking stooping handling of materials and operating machinery.
  • Perform repetitive motions using your hands and fingers such as but not limited to grasping gripping and holding.
  • Carrying & lifting up to 50lbs. frequently
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
