Job Description
- Training Schedule: MonThurs 84:30pm (68 weeks of training)
- The Laboratory Technician has responsibilities in the following areas in the catalyst production laboratory:
- Daily analytical testing and reporting
- Analytical instrument maintenance and calibration
- Supporting QA/QC Production and HSSE processes
- The Laboratory Technician has accountabilities for the following:
- Daily testing of production samples and reporting of analytical data
- Calibration routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
- Issuing Certificates of Analysis for finished product
- Initiating waivers for nonconforming product
- Managing sample inventory and shipping samples to other sites and to customers
- Maintaining compliance to standard operating procedures and ISO standard requirements
- Supporting SSE &SP initiatives at the site
- Participating in Continuous Improvement projects to drive business value
- Participating in standardization studies and activities.
- Ability to multitask and time management skills are essential for success in this position. Running multiple analyses/instruments at once is a requirement. Ability to work effectively with other team members in high stress situations is essential. The position requires the ability to work a rotating schedule and work alone.
- Ability to organize time and manage multiples tasks to meet daily testing needs
- Able to perform routine testing and also perform support functions for operations and customer processes
- Ability to communicate with all levels of organization
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
- A BS degree in chemistry or a related field is preferred. Some college chemistry is required.
- 1 years experience in an industrial laboratory is required
- Ability to work safely with equipment and hazardous materials is required.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed.
- Strong computer skills especially with Word and Excel are required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask are needed for success in this position
- The successful candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule that provides coverage over multiple shifts.
- A strong background and experience in analytical methods is desired.
- Experience with analytical equipment and the ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance is also desired.
- Strong knowledge and experience with SAP and XRF is preferred.
