In this position

As the communications expert embedded at the Buffalo Plant you will work with your plant leadership on comprehensive communications community engagement and local media strategies. You will be responsible for keeping your plant population informed of corporate messages helping to celebrate employees deepening Fords connection to the local community and mining for stories that build community and celebrate your facilitys contributions to a successful future for Ford.



Responsibilities

What youll do

Strategic Communications Leadership:You would be responsible for developing and implementing the overall communications strategy for the Buffalo Plant. This isnt just about executing tasks but thinking strategically about how to tell the plants story engage the workforce and use various methods like events signage and digital channels effectively. Youd be part of the plants leadership committee bringing the communications perspective to the table.

Internal Communications & Employee Engagement:A major focus is on keeping the plant employees informed and engaged. This involves being the main point of contact for employees acting as a liaison between different levels of leadership (plant union corporate) writing and distributing a monthly newsletter creating leadership messages (written or video) and managing internal digital platforms and social groups to encourage employee connection. Youd also be reporting on plant achievements like cost savings quality improvements and innovations.

External Communications & Community Relations:Youd manage the plants relationship with the outside world. This includes building connections with local media outlets and serving as the gobetween for them and the corporate communications team. Youd also be responsible for strengthening Fords ties to the local Buffalo community by engaging with key stakeholders like dealers arts groups and small businesses.

Event Planning and Management:A significant part of the role involves leading the planning and execution of various events at the plant site ranging from largescale public events like Family Open Houses and Spirit Days to more formal occasions like press conferences and executive visits.

Corporate and Personal Integration:Youd serve as the onsite representative of the corporate communications team ensuring alignment with companywide messaging and initiatives. Youd also stay informed about broader company and industry news. The role also emphasizes continuous personal and professional development in communication and leadership skills.



Qualifications

Youll have

  • Bachelors degree in journalism PR Communications or related field
  • 12 Years of experience in communications media relations or journalism
  • Experience in community relations media relations and stakeholder advocacy
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop/InDesign/Premiere and creativity to generate original content
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Topnotch organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Selfstarter attitude
  • Personal experience with social media and an understanding of its role in business
  • Ongoing awareness of local or regional events and media environment
  • Professional and interpersonal maturity with a proven track record of successful relationship building
