We are offering a hiring bonus of $5000 to new employees hired from this recruitment. The details of the bonus will be discussed at interview and/or offer. Note: The hiring bonus will not be applicable to City and County of Denver employees who are currently employed with the city or who have been separated from the city for fewer than 6 months.
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $28.00 $32.00/hour. We also offer generous benefits for fulltime employees which include but are not limited to:

This position will be based either at Roslyn (5440 Roslyn St. Denver CO 80216) or Central Platte (1271 W. Bayaud Ave. Denver CO 80223). The shifts available are 6:30 AM 3:00 PM or 2:30 PM 11:00 PM. Both the shift timing and location will be determined and discussed during the hiring process. There is a 7% pay increase for the later shift!

Fleet Management looks after 2500 vehicles and equipment aiming to keep 96% or more city vehicles available. The team oversees vehicle use maintenance expenses replacements new vehicle purchases heavy equipment and fuel contracts for Denvers City and County vehicles.
The Fleet Management team has an opening for a Fleet Technician II. This is an excellent position for an experienced mechanic who enjoys working on a variety of vehicles. In this role you will be assigned to a line in the fleet shop for the repair inspection and maintenance of light medium and/or heavy fleet vehicles and equipment and will use a variety of fuel technologies including gasoline diesel electric CNG and other alternative sources. We also have all the latest diagnostic tools and manufacturer training!
Specifically as a Fleet Technician I you will:
Inspect equipment brought to shop for structural integrity and other potential safety and maintenance problems
Repair or replace worn parts not requiring major mechanical work. Identify and report to supervisor any major problems requiring mechanical attention
Inspect primary and auxiliary operating systems for loose and worn parts hydraulic system for faulty cylinders hoses or fittings and air systems
Remove repair and replace wheels and tires on equipment
Respond to emergency road service on tires tubes and wheels of specialized and heavyduty automotive equipment utilizing hydraulic jacks and lifts
Remove and replace sealed beam lighting units light bulbs light bars and fuses
Operate all types of vehicles and equipment to servicing and storage area
Wash and steam clean equipment and clean work area
Participate in snow removal duties as assignments
We supply safety steeltoed boots and uniforms. To begin youll need to bring your own tools. Upon completing one year of employment youll be eligible for a $1000 tool allowance. Recent graduates are welcome to apply!

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience skills and characteristics:
An associate degree (or Trade School Certification) in automotive maintenance or similar a plus
ASE Airbrake Certification
The ability to be flexible in hours
The ability to work on weekends or overtime if needed
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience in the maintenance of gasoline diesel and/or alternative/hybrid powered equipment or one year of experience in the repair of tires tubes wheels hydraulic brakes air brakes and/or parking brake systems in an automotive repair shop or fleet department.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
License/Certifications:Requires a valid Drivers License at the time of application.
Requires a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL B) with appropriate endorsements within six (6) months of employment and must be kept current as a condition of employment.
