This position specifically supports the mission of the university through providing guidance and counseling to prospective students to help achieve the freshman strategic enrollment management goals for each incoming class and term. The International Admissions Counselor will travel to recruit and counsel prospective students to gain application numbers through the enrollment funnel from students who are an academic social and financial fit for Baylor.
A bachelors degree and two years of relevant experience are required. A masters degree and three years of work experience is preferred.
A validUS Driver License with a clear driving recordof at least two years is required.
Must be able to travel outside of the state of Texas.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a FullTime basis.
What You Will Do
- Manage a geographic territory and strategically work with prospective students within that territory from point of inquiry to final matriculation.
- Using geodemographic research historical data funnel reports and current enrollment trends while formulating territoryspecific initiatives to drive enrollment.
- Be an expert in global student mobility trends and have a strong understanding of foreign credentials within their territory.
- Be an expert on all admissions policies & procedures; actively maintain a wealth of information about Baylors academic/social/spiritual opportunities to personally and persuasively recruit students and tailor messaging to fit the audience.
- Manage territory budget and strategize travel within territory to engage in high impact recruitment activities.
- Plan and host small group events & recruitment and yield events by targeting prospective students in the territory.
- Meet yearly enrollment goals as assigned.
- Manage daily correspondence from prospective students using a wide variety of communication channels.
- Use data to develop territoryspecific outbound communication.
- Counsel students on the nuances of the admissions process especially regarding testoptional admissions.
- Use persuasive techniques to encourage prospective students to act such as visiting campus completing their application or selecting Baylor University as their final college choice.
- Qualify prospective student leads and maintain accurate records of interactions in Slate throughout the enrollment funnel.
- Meet with prospective students individually or in groups in office visits while traveling in territory or through a virtual platform to recruit throughout the enrollment process.
- Leverage advanced Slate query techniques to identify application files to complete.
- Review and evaluate complete files make admission acceptance and denial decision recommendations and prepare files to go to the admissions committee.
- Utilize tools and resources in Slate to strategically personalize recruitment efforts to meet the individual needs of prospective students.
- Counsel students regarding final college decision to enroll at Baylor.
- Develop and maintain a financial aid strategy with intermediatelevel financial aid knowledge proficiently counseling students on common financial aid practices and Baylorspecific processes.
- Develop a strategy to work with students throughout the financial aid process.
- Review students within assigned territory and make scholarship recommendations while counseling students on meritbased scholarship eligibility scholarship program opportunities scholarship appeals and outside funding opportunities.
- Determine strategies and techniques to highlight the value of a Baylor education with prospective families while advocating and supporting their unique situation.
- Properly train and complete increased conversations around the value and return on investment of higher education and financial literacy around how to finance a Baylor education.
- Professional sales training required.
- Regularly crosstrain with financial aid including the use of financial aid operating systems.
- Create and sustain highquality relationships with Baylors feeder high schools; regularly updating college counseling staff at select high schools on Baylors admission policies and university programs.
- Communicate frequently with high school counselors regarding their applicants to drive file completion and postacceptance to support and assist with questions about the enrollment process.
- Work with Admissions Counseling Leadership team to administrate enrollment goals and strategic planning as needed.
- Develop and execute an individualized admissions recruitment and sales strategy.
- Achieve yearly territory goals and subgoals regarding Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) populations and priorities.
- Perform analysis regarding admission activities and results.
- Maintain assigned duties to deliver results throughout the year to ensure strategies and tasks are completed.
- Strategize highimpact recruitment initiatives in a highly competitive landscape.
- Assist with coordinating managing & hosting oncampus and offcampus recruitment events.
- Offer virtual recruitment event opportunities to connect with prospective students and families throughout the enrollment process.
- Serve on team leading the planning and execution of offering compelling admissions counseling presentations for students and families.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission.
- Ability to comply with University policies.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
