Job Description
The Needham Public School District is an inclusive dynamic community seeking energetic skilled educators to join our team for theschool year. We have one yearlong position in 7th grade and one position from AugustDecember in 8th grade.
Thess position will cover all professional responsibilities for a leave beginningin August.
The responsibilities include planning teaching and assessing four sections of ELA. Responsibilities also include running one section of advisory. The long term substitutes will work collaboratively with members of the English Department to follow the curriculum and with members of the Cluster Team to support student learning and growth.
Under the general supervision of the English Department Chair this teacher will be responsible for advancing students critical reading thinking and writing skills. As a Needham educator this teacher will work collaboratively to integrate the attributes skills and knowledge made explicit in the Portrait of a Needham Graduate emphasizing the preparation of students to become socially and culturally responsive contributors.
- A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required; a Masters degree is preferred.
- MA DESE certification in English at the appropriate grade level
Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills have experience working with and/or teachingmiddleschool students and understand the diverse needs of students at this age. Additionally candidates who have a collaborative work ethic training/experience in the use of instructional technology a commitment to inclusive pedagogy and the potential to contribute to student life beyond the classroom are strongly encouraged to apply.
