This position assists with the coordination and execution of SOX compliance efforts for Markel Ventures and its affiliate companies.
Responsibilities include:
- Ongoing design and execution of the Markel Ventures SOX compliance model as it relates to the Markel Ventures companies
- Periodic evaluation of risk taking into consideration the impact of any changes in identified risk at Markel Ventures or Markel Group to the existing compliance model
- Close working relationship with other functional areas to resolve issues and achieve business goals
- Coordination of the quarterly Management Representation Letter process
- Coordination of and point of contact for third party auditors as it relates to the Markel Group audit and the standalone audits of the Markel Ventures companies
- Assistance with acquisition due diligence as requested
- Continuous improvement of processes
Such activities require demonstrated experience in/with:
- Current knowledge of the Sarbanes Oxley Act requirements
- Recent experience with control framework implementations
- High level of customer service putting the needs of others first
- Project management
- Leading crossfunctional teams

Experience Education Certifications:
- 810 years experience as a SOX compliance professional whether as a consultant in industry or a combination of both
- Accounting or Finance degree
- CPA or other applicable certification preferred
